From May 1997 until November 1999, Decontrol was a local print magazine, dedicated to Boston's underground electronic dance music and hip-hop communities. Decontrol never quite came out when it was supposed to and we often spelled people's name wrong but it was a good magazine. It meant something to people. And we were proud of that. We gave press to some extremely talented and passionate people who probably wouldn't have received it otherwise. In March 2000, Decontrol morphed into an online entity which is preserved here as it was when it was last updated (which was quite some time ago now.) Perhaps one day Decontrol will be reborn again in another form. Thanks and praise to all those who made it happen.

DJ Q&A'S ::

Matthew
Matthew has been dark cloud looming over Boston's underground dance music scene for quite some time, but now he's got a more legitimate purpose, with the successful tech house label, Ritual Recordings.

Bon Bons

Bon Bons is the man of a million aliases, who prides himself on his wardrobe and the ability to consume more Vodka than the Russian army.

Maxx Cavalerra
As a member of Parasound Music in Germany, Maxx brings his clean, driving beats to audiences all over the country.

Piekoz
Dave piekoz is one of boston's most diverse DJs. When he's not writing for Decontrol or working on producing tracks, he is busy drinking and making sure everyone knows just how much he hates the human race.

Dale Charles
Dale Charles was a superstar DJ before there were any. Now a daddy, Dale still stays up all night but no longer caters to throngs of sweaty dancers but to his beloved son Jackson.

Caseroc
When Chuck Caseroc, otherwise known as good Chuck Charm, isn't playing for a sweaty throng of thousands of club goers at his two residencies, he is expanding his vast vocabulary and bargain hunting for second hand shoes and wicker hats.

Tari
We caught up with Tari on the day his new furniture came. As he tried to decipher instructions that could crack the government's code, I managed to get him to answer a few questions.

Micro
DJ Micro has done a lot of important stuff in his career like releasing records on all sorts of labels, including Caffeine, but the best thing about him is that if you closed your eyes while you were talking to him, you'd think you were talking to Steve Buschemi.

Courtney
DJ Courtney; a normal business minded girl by day, she changes into a glamorous rave star by night when she puts on her magical earrings! A recent transplant from the West Coast by way of NYC, Courtney has traveled the county playing tumpin' House at Raves and Downtempo jems with Ani Difranco on her last tour.

Benny Blanco
Benny Blanco is the multi-talented host of Beyond the Qe2, whose hobbies include, producing tracks, graphic design, putting pictures of his drunken friends on the web and watching old 120 minutes videotapes with Dave Kendall.

Venom
Now introducing from Providence Rhode Island weighing in at 148 pounds, the East Coast Headbanger, the bomb from Lebanon, the prince or perversion, the honorary Latino, the Elementary school teacher with the attitude, the man with the 9 inch swamp snake, the undisputed King of the Nerds Pretending To Be Cool, ....DJ VENOM!!!

Hush
When he's not helping run Growroom Records, educating the raving masses with his blend of hard, but thoughtful house or producing tracks with partner Steve Porter, you can find him studying the bible or singing in a church choir.
